Come and join us
We always welcome new volunteers, and it's an ideal way to meet new people and make new friends whilst contributing to the success of a great village asset.
The success of the shop is mainly due to the contributions of a large number of enthusiastic and supportive volunteers, suplementing the part time staff who manage the shop and Post Office. We couldn't do it without them!
Shifts can be long or short. We welcome those who can do an hour every now and then, others who can fill a regular slot (mornings or afternoons) and also those who are "on stand-by" to help when a slot is proving difficult to fill.
And from time to time there are opportunities to work in the Post Office too.
It’s not just working behind the counter, we also need event organisers and fund-raisers, people who like baking, and people to pick up goods either from the cash and carry or from local suppliers. Also those who like to investigate new product lines or to help with how we organise the shop.
Have fun and meet people
The benefits of working in or for the shop are many – it could add some useful voluntary experience to your CV, be an opportunity to meet more people in the village – and best of all it’s great fun!
Training as needed
Training for the shop will be provided as needed, especially for working behind the shop counter - usually in a half-day session with an experienced volunteer. Extensive training is required to work in the Post Office.
